Perseverance in language learning rewarded

Monday 8 July 2019

Caritas Luxembourg has awarded certificates to 31 refugees for having participated in the association's language classes during the 2018/2019 academic year.

Caritas Luxembourg has been offering these language courses for four years with the aim of accelerating the learning of French and Luxembourgish, which are essential for integration into Luxembourgish society and finding a job. Thirty-one students (19 women and 12 men) of eight different nationalities have just received the certificate of participation attesting their regular attendance at these classes.

The language courses are organised thanks to the support of twelve volunteers who help with language-learning but also offer a more global accompaniment for integration in the country and various other professional activities.

During the award ceremony, Marie-Josée Jacobs, President of Caritas Luxembourg, congratulated all the laureates for their perseverance in learning languages, which she stated "will open many doors for you".

Marie-Josée Jacobs also thanked all the volunteers who have invested their time and effort and are motivated to continue these classes in the upcoming academic year. Marie Faucher received special thanks for her coordination of the volunteers for many years. The President also thanked the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte and the Communauté jésuite du Christ-Roi (Society of Jesus) for their support.
