Every year, the Association Culturelle et Humanitaire de Bairrada au Luxembourg (ACHBL) organises a Christmas meal at the Centre Ulysse for people living in extreme poverty. This celebration has always been a very popular event for the people accompanied by Caritas Luxembourg, a time when they could put aside their problems for a few hours and enjoy the warm atmosphere of Portugal.
This year, due to sanitary measures, it was not possible to organise this event. However, the association wanted to show people in precarious situations that it had not forgotten them and gave Mrs Marie-Josée Jacobs, president of Caritas Luxembourg, dozens and dozens of well supplied bags, as well as several trolleys of cakes and other specialities which will enhance the meals of the people accommodated at the Centre Ulysse over the next few days.
Caritas Luxembourg would like to warmly thank the Association Culturelle et Humanitaire de Bairrada in Luxembourg, represented by its president, Mr Rogério Oliveira, its vice-president, Mrs Marinha de Sousa, and its management, Mr Manuel Figueiredo, for its commitment over the years in favour of the most deprived people at the side of Caritas Luxembourg.
