Cycle of conferences on the future of the unaccompanied child in Luxembourg
On 18 June
World Refugee Day is an international day to raise awareness of the cause of refugees around the world. It takes place on 20 June every year since 2001, the year of the 50ᵉ anniversary of the adoption of the Convention of 28 July 1951 relating to the Status of Refugees.
The LFR (Lëtzebuerger Flüchtlingsrot/Collectif Réfugiés Luxembourg) and EMN Luxembourg (European Migration Network) are pleased to inform you that, in the framework of this day, they are organising a cycle of 3 conferences around the theme of the unaccompanied child which will take place on Friday 18 June 2021 from 9am to 1pm (by videoconference).
Various speakers such as the Minister for Immigration and Asylum Jean ASSELBORN, the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Claudia MONTI (Ombudsman), Charel SCHMIT (Ombudsman fir Kanner a Jugendlecher - children's ombudsman), Gilbert PREGNO (President of the Consultative Commission for Human Rights), Member States, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), EMN, lawyers and associations will meet to discuss issues such as international protection and other protective options, age determination and the notion of minority, and the conditions for the reception of unaccompanied minors.
The conferences will be held in French.
