"The Life of a Pantywaist and the Women Who Make Them

On 19 April at 19:00 to 21:00

Screening of the documentary "The Life of a Small Panty" and discussion with the director Stéfanne Prijot at the UTOPIA cinema - I want to register ( Limited places )

The documentary The Life of a Panty and the Women Who Make Them tells the story of the women who work in the shadows of the textile industry.

The process of making a pair of panties links Yulduz, a farmer in the Uzbek cotton fields deprived of freedom of expression; Janaki, a young Sumangali spinner who had to leave school for the factory; Mythili, a dyer in India who dreams of becoming a mother; Risma, an activist for the rights of women workers in Indonesia and my mother, Pascale, who runs a small clothing shop in Belgium but who, since the relocation of the factories 30 years ago, no longer offers 100% Belgian clothes. At each stage of its manufacture, from country to country, the story of these panties takes us into the intimate lives of these five women, links in a very opaque global production chain. The film questions the value we give to clothes but above all to the lives of those who make them.
