Tainted clothes: Human rights in the garment sector?

From 14 October at 14:00 to 15 October

By generating high levels of economic activity and providing employment to millions of workers around the world, the textile sector has a potential to contribute to social and economic development. At the same time, the textile sector has been at the centre of criticism due to poor working conditions and human rights issues in global value chains.

Together with the Faculty of Law from the University of Luxembourg and the campaign Rethink Your Clothes, "Plaidons Responsable" from Caritas Luxembourg is organizing an online conference, where experts from academia, civil society, and business will provide insights into the challenges that exist, and discuss policies and practices to improve social protection in the workplace and to eliminate forced labour from global value chains in the textile industry.
