Decarbonise now! - Consumption goods

On 19 April at 12:00 to 14:00

n partnership with the CarbonNerds from the LIST, the Ministry for Consumer Protection, the Ministry of International Cooperation, Greenpeace and Infogreen we ought to bring you local short and long term solutions and actions to decarbonise in Luxembourg. There are 5 events to discuss sectors with high carbon emissions - energy, mobility, housing, food and consumption goods.

Consumption goods

Every day, we consume a large variety of goods: hygiene products, clothes, electronics, books… Do you know where your purchases come from? With globalized supply chains, is it even possible to make “green” consumption choices? Are there good practices to adopt so we can reduce our purchases’ environmental burdens?

In this talk, we will explore the life cycle of our consumption goods, how they are produced, distributed, used and disposed, and analyse the potential solutions to mitigate their environmental impacts.

The presented information will be based on scientific data gathered by researchers of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The latter particularly investigated the carbon footprint of Luxembourg residents and potential decarbonization pathways. While the impacts of consumption goods on climate change will be primarily discussed; other effects, e.g., on ecosystem or resource depletion, will also be highlighted when relevant.
