Psycho-social support

The psychological service is involved in all services for homeless people.

In 2019, it carried out 1.140 psychological interviews with people who were staying at the Centre Ulysse or in supportive housing.

The interviews conducted can be categorized as follows:

• "Support" interviews   
• Psychological follow-up interviews to set goals and work with the person on an ongoing basis on the issues that concern him or her in his/her life.   
• Crisis intervention interviews allowing people in crisis situations to get out of the "fire of action" by exchanging with a professional in a secure environment to clarify the situation and think about the next steps. 
• Assessment interviews that are used to monitor and, if necessary, readjust the measures carried out   
• the "Helferkonferenzen" with other internal or external parties or with the person's family   
• "Diagnostic" type interviews.

Psychological consultations at the Centre Ulysse, as well as home visits by the Soins Psychiatriques à Domicile (SPAD - Psychiatric Care at Home), a service offered by the Centre Hospitalier Neuro-Psychiatrique (CHNP - Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital), are organised under an agreement signed in 2014. These consultations, and the occasional involvement of CHNP psychiatrists in Centre Ulysse team meetings, enable the early detection of problems and a better provision of care.

In parallel to individual interviews, the team organizes therapeutic groups, such as a relaxation group, an artistic expression group, another with a defined theme, etc.

In 2019, the psychological service has also set up the "Café psy" which operates according to a very "low threshold" approach. The "Café psy" is a weekly meeting and exchange place for the most vulnerable people hosted by the "Emergency" department.
