War and famine closely linked
Thursday 14 April 2022
In a paper that has just been published, Caritas Luxembourg highlights that war and famine are closely linked. Because of the war in Ukraine, countries like South Sudan, whose population and especially children are already suffering from malnutrition, will be even more vulnerable from a food point of view.
Caritas Luxembourg is already acting at different levels to fight against food insecurity: distribution of food to families, strengthening agriculture through specialised training for farmers and the distribution of tools and seeds, support for mothers to cultivate vegetable gardens, measures to diversify household food, etc.
In the coming months, it will be important to further support these people, who are also victims of the war in Ukraine, despite the distance between them and Ukraine.
The paper is available on our website at the link below. (in French).
A nice trip to the Amnéville Zoo offered by the Amicale POST Luxembourg and its donors to Ukrainian refugees hosted by Caritas Luxembourg. 181 refugees, including 97 adults and 84 children, were able to take advantage of this great offer.
With the war in Ukraine still showing no sign of abating and the situation already dramatic for the millions of Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their homes, the approaching winter season does not bode well.
