"Rotary Club Esch-sur-Alzette" supports "Caritas Buttek" in Esch-sur-Alzette

At a meeting held on 30 November 2021, Mr Fernand Rippinger, President 2020/21 of the "Rotary Club Esch-sur-Alzette", had the pleasure of presenting Caritas Luxembourg, represented by Mrs Marie-Josée Jacobs and Mrs Caroline Theves, with a cheque for 5,000 euros. Mrs. Marie-Josée Jacobs thanked all the members of the "Rotary Club Esch-sur-Alzette" for their generous gesture and their regular support for the initiatives of Caritas Luxembourg, especially in these times of crisis. Thanks to this donation, the beneficiaries of the grocery shop will be offered a shopping trolley which will enable them to relieve the weight of their purchases and to be able to buy more food when they visit the "Caritas Buttek".      

The Caritas Buttek social grocery shops enable families affected by poverty to obtain food and everyday products for a financial contribution of about one third of the market price. This increases their purchasing power. In addition, cooking courses are offered to the clients of the social grocery shop, to show them how to prepare healthy and balanced meals with the range of products offered by the social grocery shops. The kitchen area of the "Caritas Buttek" was also built in 2013 thanks to a donation from the "Rotary Club Esch-sur-Alzette".
