Gastronomic meal for people living in precarious conditions

Thursday 17 November 2022

On Monday, people living in precarious conditions and hosted in the emergency structures managed by Caritas Luxembourg, in particular at the Centre Ulysse and in the two night shelters, were invited to taste a gastronomic menu prepared by some of Luxembourg's top chefs: Roberto Fani from the restaurant Fani in Roeser, Renato Favaro from the restaurant Como in Esch-sur-Alzette and Etienne-Jean Labarrère-Claverie from the restaurant Opéra in Luxembourg City. This was the ninth edition of the "Chefs for the Best" action. The event was coordinated by Laurent Frey, director of Gault & Millau, and Philippe Zulima of Centre Ulysse. The table was served by several personalities from the social sector, including Minister Corinne Cahen and members of the management and governance of Caritas Luxembourg.

On the menu:

  • Cream of pumpkin soup from the country by Chef Renato Favaro
  • Home-made smoked salmon, crunchy fennel, capers, red onions and sour cream by Chef Etienne-Jean Labarrère-Claverie
  • Melting veal cheek with home-made purée by Chef Roberto Fani
  • Traditional Tiramisu by Chef Renato Favaro

The guests were more than pleased to have had their daily lives changed for the duration of a meal. "Chocolats du Coeur" were served with the coffee.

Other partners in the action were the companies Nalis, Terra Roxa, Boissons Heintz and Ateliers du Tricentenaire, who donated the "Chocolats du Cœur".
