Caritas Luxembourg presents its collection of healthy recipes for social grocery beneficiaries

Tuesday 23 May 2023

Caritas Luxembourg presented today the collection of healthy and light recipes it has just published for the beneficiaries of the "Caritas Buttek" social grocery shops, in the presence of the Director General of Caritas Luxembourg, Marc Crochet, representatives of Cardif Lux Vie and BNP Paribas Cardif as well as of the Ministries of Health and of Family, Integration and the Greater Region.

When every euro counts, it is often more difficult to eat healthily. For example, industrially mass-produced  foods are often cheaper than fresh vegetables and fruit, but are generally poor in nutritional quality and too high in calories, fat, sugar and salt. The new booklet published by Caritas Luxembourg and intended for the beneficiaries of social groceries has been designed to cook good food on a small budget, but also to give families ideas for healthy and cheap recipes and finally to give them the desire to enjoy cooking. All recipes can be prepared with products available in the "Caritas Buttek" social grocery shops.

The recipes published in the book are validated within the framework of the Ministry of Health's "Gesond iessen, Méi beweegen" programme, in which the Caritas Luxembourg social grocery shops have been participating for many years. Finally, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Family, Integration and the Greater Region, it is planned to make the project accessible to other audiences, in several languages and in other formats so that it can be consulted by as many people as possible.

The creation of this recipe collection was made possible thanks to the support of BNP Paribas Cardif. BNP Paribas Cardif is already involved in nutrition-related actions through its global programme to prevent overweight and obesity, and supports associations with the aim of initiating changes in the habits of children and their families.

While the paper version of the recipe booklet is reserved for beneficiaries of social grocery shops, the electronic version can be consulted by anyone below.

Bon appétit !
