Day care centres

The work of Caritas Luxembourg day care centres is guided by the needs of families and children.

So families benefit from great flexibility when enrolling their child, and they are not restricted to enrolling on either a full-time or part-time basis as in other transition houses. They are offered a range of different alternatives. The staff members are well-qualified and listen to parents. Regular communication between parents and educational staff is encouraged. Parents are invited to get involved in life in the day care centres as much as possible.

As for the children, they are enrolled according to their age, needs and wishes, in time-bound modules (e.g. homework), which makes it possible to avoid interrupting them in the middle of an activity. Care is also taken to ensure that they assert their rights and participate in the life of their day care centre, with the primary aim being for them to accept their responsibilities. Finally, non-violent communication is another aspect of the work of Caritas Luxembourg day care centres.

We should also note the close cooperation not only with parents, but also with schools and local communities.
