Accueil en famille
The host family project for people fleeing the war in Ukraine was launched in partnership with the Ministry for Family Affairs and the Office National de l'Accueil (ONA) in 2022, as soon as the war in Ukraine broke out. A joint platform of the Luxembourg Red Cross and Caritas Luxembourg has been set up. Families wishing to welcome people fleeing the war in Ukraine into their homes could register their wish.
At the end of 2023, eighteen months after the start of the war, 85 families were still welcoming Ukrainian families into their homes, and 78 autonomous housing units were being made available for this purpose, without any compensation whatsoever, despite the fact that the cost of living has continued to rise.
By the end of 2023, 463 Ukrainians had been taken in.
The agreement between the Ministry for Family Affairs and Caritas Luxembourg for foster care has been extended.
The host and host families receive social support.
