Gastronomic meal for people living in poverty

Tuesday 30 November 2021

Yesterday, people living in precarious conditions and accommodated in the emergency structures managed by Caritas Luxembourg, notably at the Centre Ulysse and in the two night shelters, were able to taste a gastronomic menu prepared by some of Luxembourg's top chefs: Etienne-Jean Labarrère-Claverie of the restaurant "L'Opéra", Arnaud Deparis of the restaurant "L'Avenue" and Sergio Villada of the wine bar "Le Pas Sage". This was the eighth edition of the "Chefs for the Best" event.

The action was coordinated this year by Laurent Frey, director of Gault & Millau, Philippe Zulima and Filipe Ribeiro from the Centre Ulysse, which hosted the event. The table service was done by several personalities from the social sector, as well as by the socio-educational team of the Centre Ulysse and the Creamisu atelier.

On the menu:

  • Œuf parfait, Espuma au poulet rôti, croûtons de brioche, parmesan, carpaccio de champignons de Paris
  • La joue de bœuf fondante, carottes glacées et purée de pommes de terre.
  • L’opéra à notre façon.

The guests were more than happy to have had their daily lives changed for a meal. "Chocolats du Cœur" were served with the coffee.

Other partners in the action were the Cave des Sommeliers de Steinfort and the company NALIS from Bonnevoie.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO WERE INVOLVED!
